AN appeal has been launched to find new members for the Aylesbury Twinning Association (ATA).
Aylesbury is twinned with Bourg-en-Bresse in France, however the town council has decided that links between the two are in a poor state of health. Now it is looking for volunteers who have the enthusiasm, time and expertise to revive the relationship.

Former mayor Jenny Puddefoot said she wants to see the ATA revived, and new committee was formed at the end of June led by David Mummery, a former chairman of Wendover Twinning, Tim Crapper and Sheila Page (who are both involved in schools twinning activities), Freda Roberts, the councillor who initiated the twinning and local businesswoman Claudia Brackenbury.

Mr Mummery said all previous records have been lost and the ATA will now have to start afresh.

He said: "We would like all societies to register with us so they can be involved and display their talents when the twin town people visit us. All people from the Aylesbury area are encouraged to be members and to become actively involved."

More information and details of membership are available on the Facebook group page 'Aylesbury Twinning Association' or by writing to Claudia Brackenbury, c/o Aylesbury Town Council, 5 Church Street, Aylesbury. You can also email aylesburytwinning@gmail.com

Do you think the Aylesbury Twinning Association should be relaunched?

Simple. Make some of their delicious Bresse Bleu cheese and famous blue-footed chickens available in local shops. That should raise awareness and interest. On second thoughts, the average UK consumer couldn't tell the difference between a Bressan chicken and a turkey twizzler.
